«Davvero posso rallegrarmi,
E ti ammiro ancora stringere a te, mediante l'umiltà,
col quale si conquista Colui che dal nulla trasse tutte le cose;

«Really I can rejoice,
and nobody could tear me from this joy,
since I have reached what I have desired under the heaven,
because I see you triumph in a way, I would say, terrible and unbelievable,
sustained by a marvelous prerogative of the wisdom that proceeds from same God,
on the astuteness of the snake,
on the haughtiness, that is downfall of the human nature,
and on the vanity, that the hearts of the men make fatuous.
And I still admire you to tighten to you through the humility,
with the strength of the faith and the arms of the poverty,
the incomparable treasure, hidden in the field of the world and the human hearts,
with which is conquered He who from the void has created all the things;
and to use the same words of the Apostle,
I esteem you friend of God and support of the weak and shaky limbs of his ineffable Body»

The dedication is inspired by the third letter of saint Clara of Assisi to the Agnes of Praga, before 1238 [cfr. FF 2885-2886]. The saint rejoices with her for the great progress in the way of the spirit, peak of every victory of man on the evil and on limits of matter. The taekwondoka with the help of martial art, cultivating the human spirit to the highest possible level, sets the necessary premises to achieve the same goal. The perfection of the art expresses the full dominion of spirit on the body in a harmonic dimension that positively involves the world around itself.
